China's Minister of Justice He Rong meets with Dawda A. Jallow, attorney general and minister of justice of Gambia, who was in Beijing for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), on Sept 6.
He Rong noted that in the keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summit of the FOCAC, President Xi Jinping announced that the overall characterization of China-Africa relations would be elevated to an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, and proposed 10 partnership actions for modernization to deepen China-Africa cooperation. Xi's speech has charted the course for deepening legal exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa, she said.
The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) of China is willing to work with the Gambian side to implement the important consensus reached at the summit, and strengthen pragmatic exchanges and cooperation in areas such as administrative legislation, law-based administration and legal services under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, in a bid to promote the implementation of the summit's outcomes, and provide legal guarantees for bilateral trade and investment and personnel exchanges, she noted.
Jallow highly lauded China's achievements in promoting the rule of law, expressing a willingness to further deepen cooperation with China's MOJ, and jointly implement the outcomes of the summit so as to support the sustained and healthy development of bilateral relations.
