Li welcomed the delegation, who were in the country to negotiate the China-Ethiopia treaty on the transfer and management of sentenced persons and criminal judicial assistance.

He highlighted the guiding principles of the just-concluded third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the achievements China has made in promoting the rule of law under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law since the 18th National Congress of the CPC.

He said that China's MOJ is willing to work with its Ethiopian counterpart to effectively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, promote the healthy development of bilateral relations through pragmatic cooperation on the rule of law, and provide solid legal guarantees for the all-weather strategic partnership between the two countries.

The two sides also engaged in in-depth discussions on judicial administration, especially legislative procedures, prison management, and lawyer management, and reached important consensus on broadening exchange channels and deepening judicial cooperation.

Belayhun lauded China's achievements in socioeconomic development and the development of the rule of law, expressing a willingness to further deepen exchanges with China's MOJ, and promote exchanges and cooperation in areas such as the transfer and management of sentenced persons, lawyer management and the cultivation of legal talent.
