On July 10, the Ministry of Justice held the first plenary meeting of the legal service consultation mechanism for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Vice-Minister of Justice Wang Zhenjiang attended and addressed the meeting.
The establishment of the legal service consultation mechanism for the GBA is a significant measure to thoroughly implement the important instructions made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on the development of the GBA as well as the decisions and arrangements of the outline development plan for the GBA on strengthening cooperation in legal affairs. It also represents a major effort to accelerate the construction of international legal service centers and international commercial dispute resolution centers.
This initiative is crucial for strengthening the coordination and integration of legal service resources within the GBA, promoting the coordinated development of legal services in the region, and providing high-quality legal services and robust legal guarantees for the development of the GBA.
The meeting reviewed and approved the work plan for the consultation mechanism and conducted consultations on such topics as accelerating the construction of international commercial dispute resolution centers in the GBA, improving the supporting policies for the pilot program allowing Hong Kong and Macao lawyers to practice in the mainland cities in the GBA, and promoting the cultivation of and exchanges and cooperation among legal service talents from Guangdong province, Hong Kong and Macao. A series of pragmatic work measures were also proposed at the meeting.
