Minister of Justice He Rong meets with a delegation led by Paul Lam Ting-kwok, secretary for justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, in Beijing on July 11.

He Rong said the HKSAR's enactment of the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance in March has further consolidated the legal shield for safeguarding national security, and injected strong momentum into Hong Kong's shift from stability to prosperity.

Since last year, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has thoroughly implemented the decisions and plans of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on promoting the development of the GBA, and has steadily implemented cooperation agreements with the Department of Justice of the HKSAR, with practical outcomes achieved in areas such as the mutual training of legal talents, the protection of GBA lawyers' practicing rights, and exchanges and cooperation in international commercial arbitration and mediation, the minister noted.

The MOJ will continue to strengthen interactions, exchanges and legal consultations with the Department of Justice of the HKSAR, expand cooperation in legal services involving lawyers and arbitration, support the building of a lawyer exchange platform in the GBA, and promote the establishment of an effective dispute resolution mechanism that integrates arbitration, mediation, and litigation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao region, in a bid to provide high-quality legal services and legal guarantees for the development of the GBA, as well as the stable and sustainable implementation of "one country, two systems", she added.
