Senior official stresses law-based handling of public complaints

XI'AN -- Chen Wenqing, a senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official, has underscored the importance of handling public complaints submitted through letters and visits according to the law.

Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a conference to promote the law-based handling of public complaints, which was held in Xi'an, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, from Sunday to Monday.

While acknowledging the results in related work, Chen called for more efforts to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the people, and to promote social stability.

He emphasized the need to ensure the resolution of complaints through procedural guarantees, so that every demand and appeal of the people can be handled according to the law.

Improvements should be made in relevant work, including notifications, supervision and assessment, Chen added.
