Vice-minister of justice meets with HK deputy secretary for justice

Vice-Minister of Justice Hu Weilie met with a delegation led by Cheung Kwok-kwan, deputy secretary for justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), in Beijing on June 14. They had an in-depth exchange of views on promoting the rule of law in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Hu emphasized that the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has thoroughly studied and implemented Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, and focused on supporting the general blueprint of the Party and the country through the rule of law.

He noted that the MOJ has actively promoted legislation involving the Hong Kong and Macao SARs and the GBA, continuously improved policies on legal services opening to Hong Kong and Macao, and strengthened interactions, exchanges and legal consultations in a bid to provide robust legal guarantees for the development of the GBA, as well as the stable and sustainable implementation of "one country, two systems".

Cheung expressed gratitude for the MOJ's support in building Hong Kong into a center for international legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia-Pacific region, and looked forward to further deepening pragmatic cooperation between the two sides so as to jointly promote Hong Kong to better integrate into the overall development of the country.
