From May 14 to 18, China's Vice-Minister of Justice Zhao Changhua led a delegation to visit Morocco at the invitation of the Moroccan Ministry of Justice.
During his stay in Morocco, Zhao held work talks with Moroccan Minister of Justice Abdellatif Ouahbi. They reached consensus on deepening exchanges and cooperation in areas of law and justice, and signed two action plans on exchanges and cooperation between the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) of China and the Moroccan Ministry of Justice for 2024-2025.
Zhao also met with Mohamed Abdennabaoui, president delegate of the Moroccan Supreme Council of the Judicial Power, Moulay El Hassan Daki, King's attorney general at the Court of Cassation of Morocco and head of the Public Prosecution Office, Younes Jabrane, secretary general of Morocco's General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, and Abdelouahed Jamali Idrissi, coordinator of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Reintegration of Prisoners.
He also paid on-site visits to the drug rehabilitation center in Rabat, local prisons in Tamesna, and a commercial court of appeal in Casablanca.
The Chinese delegation and the Moroccan side engaged in in-depth exchanges on cooperation in professional fields such as the rule of law, judicial reform, prison management, community correction, drug rehabilitation, and the digitalization of judicial procedures.
Zhao expounded on Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and China's historic achievements in the development of comprehensive rule of law in the new era to the Moroccan side. He said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Moroccan King Mohammed VI, China-Morocco relations have rapidly developed in recent years, with political mutual trust continuously strengthened and pragmatic cooperation in various fields yielding fruitful results.
China's MOJ is willing to work with the Moroccan side to deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, aiming to provide strong legal guarantees for elevating the China-Morocco strategic partnership to new heights.
Ouahbi and other officials of Morocco lauded China's remarkable achievements in promoting the rule of law. They expressed their willingness to further deepen cooperation with the MOJ of China, and to learn from each other's advanced practices and experiences, in a bid to jointly serve the socioeconomic development of both countries.
