On April 25, the launch ceremony of the 2024 demonstration campaign on bringing culture, science and technology and hygienic health to the countryside and the publicity month for the Civil Code kicked off in Nanlou village of Lu'an city, East China's Anhui province.
The event was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and the National Office of Law Popularization.
Vice-Minister of Justice Hu Weilie attended and addressed the ceremony.
Chen Shun, vice-chairman of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Anhui Provincial Committee, presided over the ceremony.
The 2024 demonstration campaign on bringing culture, science and technology and hygienic health to the countryside, and the publicity month for the Civil Code kick off in Nanlou village, Yu'an district of Lu'an, East China's Anhui province, on April 25.
At the ceremony, Hu stressed the need to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, and to fully leverage the role of the campaign of bringing culture, science and technology and hygienic health to the countryside to intensify law popularization in rural areas.
Efforts should be made to promote the public's understanding of the Civil Code during the publicity month in May. It is necessary to focus on addressing the most pressing difficulties and problems that are of great concern to business entities, and to strengthen law popularization for optimizing a law-based business environment, he added.
He also called for promoting the innovative transformation and development of fine traditional Chinese culture and strengthening the protection, publicity, and inheritance of the Red culture of socialist rule of law.
During the event, the MOJ and the National Office of Law Popularization held a meeting on promoting the "One village (community) legal consultant plus N legally savvy villagers" campaign in such provincial-level regions as Hebei, Anhui, Jiangxi, Chongqing, Guizhou and Qinghai.
Heads of the justice departments of these regions briefed on their progress in carrying out the campaign.
Additionally, the MOJ, the Justice Department of Anhui, the Law Press of China, and the China Legal Publishing House distributed legal books to villagers at the ceremony.
During the ceremony, the relevant departments directly under the provincial government of Anhui and the relevant government departments of Lu'an carried out legal publicity and popularization on culture, science and technology and hygienic health for villagers. They also provided on-site legal and agricultural consulting services for the villagers.
