An advanced training program on the legal services of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries was held in Beijing from Dec 15 to 23. Leading officials from China's Ministry of Justice (MOJ) met with participants of the training program. Wang Zhenjiang, vice-minister of justice of China, attended the program's opening ceremony and held a trilateral meeting with ministerial-level participants from Belarus and Cambodia.

The program is an important initiative in implementing the guiding principles of President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter to the 10th Meeting of the SCO Ministers of Justice. It serves as China's response to the concerns of SCO member states about strengthening exchanges and cooperation in the legal and judicial administration field, providing an important platform for exchanges and mutual learning among justice ministries of SCO members. The program adopted various forms, such as lectures, on-site training and visits, with the focus on Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and China’s practices of the rule of law. It also featured in-depth presentations by senior legal experts and practitioners on China's national conditions, traditional legal culture, legal service system and international judicial cooperation.

Participants expressed their admiration for the remarkable achievements China has made in developing the rule of law. They agreed that China's MOJ has established an effective platform for consolidating consensus, fostering friendship, facilitating communication and enhancing mutual trust among justice ministries of SCO countries, which will further deepen exchanges, mutual learning and pragmatic cooperation in the legal and judicial administration field among participating countries.

A total of 33 officials from the justice ministries of 11 countries, including Iran, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, participated in the training program. They attended lectures at the China University of Political Science and Law and visited legal institutions in China to engage in cultural exchanges related to the rule of law.
