284,000 applicants take second phase of China's legal profession exam

BEIJING -- The second phase of China's unified qualification exam for legal professionals took place on Sunday.

Around 284,000 applicants participated in the exam run at 496 testing sites on the Chinese mainland, and Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, according to the Ministry of Justice.

Applicants who passed the first phase of the exam in 2022 and 2023 qualified to sit this test round, which features subjective questions, and nearly 97 percent of whom participated on Sunday.

The first phase of the exam, a test with objective questions, took place on Sept. 16 and Sept. 17. Around 860,000 applicants registered for the examination this year, representing an increase of 5.26 percent year on year, according to the ministry.
