China's justice minister meets with Vietnamese minister of public security

China's Minister of Justice He Rong met with a delegation led by To Lam, Vietnam's minister of public security, in Beijing on Sept 14, and held pragmatic exchanges on enhancing cooperation between the two ministries in their respective functions.

He Rong extended a warm welcome to To Lam. She said that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Vietnam. Under the leadership of the two heads of state, China-Vietnam bilateral relations have maintained sound momentum.

She noted that China's Ministry of Justice (MOJ) is willing to continue strengthening its friendly ties with Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security and further enrich the connotations of the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between the two countries.

She briefed To Lam about China's achievements in the development of the rule of law under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. China's MOJ has thoroughly implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, promoted social equity and justice based on its functions, safeguarded the people's basic rights and interests, as well as advanced the building of a socialist country in all respects under the rule of law, according to the Chinese minister.

Noting that pragmatic legal and judicial cooperation between the two sides has played an important role in safeguarding and maintaining the security of the two countries as well as regional security, she stated that China will take the opportunity of promoting the negotiations and signing of the treaty on the transfer of sentenced persons between the two countries to enhance mutual trust and cooperation in legal and judicial fields, so as to provide profound legal guarantees for the sustained, in-depth and sound development of their bilateral relations.

To Lam spoke highly of China's achievements in economic and social development, as well as in the development of the rule of law.  He said that Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security is willing to strengthen cooperation with China's MOJ in the fields of judicial and law enforcement, including the transfer of sentenced persons, relevant legislation and criminal correction, in a bid to promote the sound and sustained development of the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation.

Vice-Minister of Justice Wang Zhenjiang also attended the meeting.
