Minister of Justice He Rong met with the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to China led by its head Jorge Toledo Albinana on June 6.

The two sides held an in-depth exchange of views on issues of common concern, including China-EU legal exchanges and cooperation, optimizing the business environment, intellectual property rights protection, and the cultivation of legal talents.

He Rong noted that the report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China had singled out a special chapter to expound on the rule of law, fully demonstrating China's firm determination to build itself into a modern socialist country in all respects on the legal footing.

The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) of China is thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and serving Chinese modernization, based on the ministry's functions in such fields as administrative legislation and enforcement, criminal execution, legal services and legal publicity, as well as the rule of law in foreign-related fields, the minister said.

Noting that China and the EU share extensive common interests, she said that conducting practical exchanges and cooperation on the rule of law will inject new momentum into China-EU relations. The MOJ is ready to work together with the EU to continue to deepen exchanges and practical cooperation on law-based governance, so as to create a sound environment for promoting China-EU relations.

Jorge Toledo Albinana echoed that the EU is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in China-EU dialogue on legal affairs, so as to further promote the rule of law of both sides.

Vice-Minister of Justice Wang Zhenjiang also attended the meeting.
