Vice-minister of justice underlines active response to people's new expectations and needs for rule of law

The press center for the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) hosted its third press conference on Oct 19.

As a delegate to the 20th National Congress of the CPC, Zuo Li, vice-minister and a member of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), answered journalists' questions at the conference.

Zuo pointed out that in the course of advancing overall law-based governance and judicial administration in the new era, the MOJ has always adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and carried out in-depth study of and implemented Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. Focusing on the coordination of overall law-based governance, the MOJ has promoted the basic completion of the top-level design that includes the plan on developing the rule of law in China, the implementation outline for building a law-based government, and the implementation outline for building a society based on the rule of law. The ministry has made new achievements in judicial administration in a solid manner with focus on the four main responsibilities of administrative legislation, administrative law enforcement, criminal execution and public legal services. 

She noted that, in the next step, the MOJ will thoroughly study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, uphold Party leadership over administrative legislation, and consolidate legislation in key, emerging, and foreign-related fields. It will continuously improve the quality and efficiency of administrative legislation and actively respond to the people's emerging needs and expectations for legislation.
