Since its establishment in May 2017, the Legal Affairs Department of the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games has been devoting comprehensive legal support to this global sports festival.

Over 95 percent of the department's staff have a master's degree or above in law while the majority of them are lawyers who can work in English. In addition, over half of the staff were born after 1990, making the department a young and professional team full of passion about their work.

According to Li Fuying, head of the department, the department is responsible for ensuring that the committee fulfills its pledge to the International Olympic Committee, assume its obligations under the Host City Contract, and conduct the management of the games according to law.

It's also charged with formulating rules and policies on important issues like personal information protection, tort prevention and intellectual property rights protection. In addition, it is expected to keep a close eye on the possible influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the execution of the contract and to act accordingly.
