Vice-minister of justice calls for high-quality development of legal aid

Vice-Minister of Justice Xiong Xuanguo delivered a speech via video link at a training session on legal aid on Dec 15. 

The session was held by the Ministry of Justice for judicial administrators nationwide. 

In his speech, Xiong urged judicial administrative authorities at all levels and legal aid institutions to implement Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, strengthen the Party's leadership in all respects, extend the coverage of legal aid, increase the availability of legal aid, and enhance the protection for legal aid recipients. 

He also called for advancing the program that ensures the participation of defense lawyers in every criminal case, improving duty counsel work, and satisfying people’s needs with legal aid services.
