Beijing's public legal service center delivered a satisfactory performance during the first three months after it started operating at the end of 2020.

Various services

Currently, the center provides the public with six kinds of services - legal consulting, legal aid, notarization, mediation, judicial authentication, and lawyers' pro bono services.

In the first quarter of this year, the center advised the public on various subjects more than 6,000 times, organized experts to review 33 judicial authentication cases, and concluded 750 legal aid cases in which more than 9.13 million yuan ($1.4 million) in economic losses was recovered.

Consultations through hotline

As an important channel for the provision of legal advice for the public, the center's legal consultation hotline, 12348, has more than doubled the number of its operators to 119.

Since the beginning of this year, the hotline has provided legal advice 211,172 times, an annual growth of 219.03 percent. The total time spent on it has amounted to more than 24,186 hours, an increase of 196.4 percent from last year.

High satisfaction rate

With more lawyers joining the operator team, the hotline's get-through rate has risen from the previous 60 percent to 87.09 percent, making it much easier for the public to access its service.

In addition, 99.23 percent of the 180,000 calls registered by the hotline by the end of March passed the recording quality test.

As a result, the hotline gained a satisfaction rate of 98.51 percent in the first quarter, a year-on-year increase of 0.93 percent. It was also commended by the public 112 times, an annual increase of 646.67 percent.

Smoother connection with physical platforms

During the first quarter, 305 applications for legal aid and mediation were made through the center's hotline platform, with another 28 legal aid applications received by its online platform. The applications were all smoothly transferred for the handling by corresponding physical platforms.
