The eastern metropolis of Shanghai has been accelerating the opening-up of its arbitration industry since the establishment of the Shanghai center of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) last October, continuing its emergence as an arbitration hub for the Asia-Pacific region.

By focusing on arbitration and mediation of foreign-related IP disputes occurring in China, the center can best demonstrate Shanghai's commitment to becoming a global high ground for IP protection and an Asia-Pacific arbitration center available to the whole world. It is also playing a significant role in the city's development of a market-oriented, law-based and international business environment.

The center successfully settled its first foreign-related IP case in July this year.
