Judicial departments across South China's Guangdong province have been ingeniously promoting China's first Civil Code since its adoption in late May, coming up with a variety of measures that appeal to the public.

Among the promotion measures taken by the judicial department of Yantian district of Shenzhen, a coastal metropolis of Guangdong, is the use of a yacht named Civil Law Guardian.

Docked against the backdrop of the blue sea, the yacht is decorated with banners and posters containing elements of the code. In its cabin, a series of promotional videos are played on a screen while crew members introduce the code to passengers aboard.

The ship is scheduled to make its maiden voyage off the city's coastline soon to publicize the code.

The judicial department of Shantou, on the other hand, collaborated with the foundation for development of Guangdong's local opera to combine promotion of the code with operatic performances.

At salons jointly held by the two sides, lawyers point out and explain the legal provisions illustrated in the opera's popular plots to give the audience a much deeper impression of the code.

By equipping trucks with LED screens, the judicial department of Zhanjiang transformed the vehicles into eye-catching caravans playing promotional videos about the code.

So far, the caravans have visited over 100 towns and communities, traveling more than 5,000 kilometers and drawing huge crowds of people wherever they stop.

In addition, the department designed a code-themed deck of cards that features articles of the code printed on each card. Thus far, it has distributed the decks to 10,000 residents who can learn about the code while playing cards.

Like its counterpart in Zhanjiang, the judicial department of Qingyuan also integrated the content of the code with a performing art called skit.

In the skits performers demonstrate to the audience how they address their legal disputes using the code to enhance people's legal awareness.
