Notarial services across China active in social governance

In recent years, China's notarial services have been deeply involved in the process of social governance, playing an active and unique role in safeguarding fairness and justice and promoting social harmony. 

Notary public offices in places like Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Fujian provinces have been actively participating in the auxiliary judicial work ranging from mediation to enforcement of court judgments, making great efforts to resolve disputes at their early stages. 

For example, a notary public office in Xiamen, capital of Fujian, has offered services in over 100,000 cases of mediation, judicial investigation, evidence and property preservation, and judgment enforcement since the beginning of last year.

In the meantime, they are also cooperating with public complaints offices, public security organs and hospitals which are often the hot spots of social disputes, playing a crucial part in diversified dispute resolution.

To further improve administrative law enforcement, provinces like Guangdong, Shaanxi and Zhejiang have integrated notarial services into such activities as environmental governance, house demolition-related resettlement, illegal building removal and market regulation, realizing the full-process recording of various administrative law enforcement activities.

In Shangyu district of Shaoxing, Zhejiang, for instance, no complaint has been filed against the administrative law enforcement activities involving local notarial services. Meanwhile, notarial services in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong, are dedicated to the city's shantytown renovation projects.

To enhance notarial services' role in rural revitalization, East China's Shandong province has released a guideline which instructs notary public offices to help with investment attraction, contract execution and compensation for land expropriation in rural areas. 

Meanwhile, provinces like Shaanxi, Gansu and Anhui have directed notarial resources to their poverty relief work to ensure premium services for impoverished rural families.
