Beijing's judicial department has opened a green channel for personnel who fought at the front line during the battle against COVID-19, providing them with speedy legal aid services.

The personnel qualified for the fast-track service include front-line medical workers, police officers, community workers, and volunteers.

The department also lowered the legal aid application threshold for workers, small business owners, the self-employed and other people who have been mired in poverty because of the epidemic. They are now exempted from the economic condition review or proving their financial difficulties.

Meanwhile, the department applies the practice of notification and commitment to its legal aid application process, allowing applicants who are unable to provide proofs of their financial difficulties to submit written statements about their financial conditions.

It also coordinates all of the online legal service platforms at its disposal to take the whole legal aid application process online, resulting in a significant improvement in its work efficiency.
