The district of Lushunkou in the major port city of Dalian, has issued a scientific-based plan for the fishing sector -- to support better environmental conditions in China's Bohai Sea, according to local officials.

Officials added that Lushunkou, in northeastern Liaoning province, has further expanded its management of marine aquaculture pollution.

In addition, in order to effectively conserve living marine resources, Lushunkou has begun to control the intensity of marine fishing, reducing the number and power of fishing boats to decrease fishing levels.

Officials said projections were that by the end of 2020, the total amount of marine fishing will be reduced by more than 24 percent compared with the marine fishing output in 2015.

At the same time, tighter port pollution control has been carried out in Lushunkou.

At present, an investigation of 12 coastal fishing ports and the compilation of a list of fishing ports has been completed.

Officials said the environment in the fishing ports has been cleaned up and improved and the construction of facilities for pollution control in fishing ports has been actively promoted.

What's more, Lushunkou has begun to strengthen the ecological protection of the coastal zone and focus on the treatment of beach garbage, to ensure better monitoring and regulation of the Bohai Sea.
