Government departments in the Lushunkou of the city of Dalian recently implemented a series of specific measures -- to further promote the sustainable and healthy development of private education, according to local officials.

They said the initiative was taken in order to further support and standardize the development of private education and effectively meet people's selective education needs.

Local authorities said that they were making greater efforts to introduce high-quality schools -- and aiming to build a first rate private school that could integrate kindergarten, primary school, junior high school and senior high school education over a 15 year period for students. At present, government departments are holding talks with a number of companies on the matter, officials said.

Officials said that the local government had continuously strengthened the supervision of private education.

They added that the local authorities were staging activities such as supervision and evaluations of the operational behavior of private schools, as well as staging teaching competitions.

By doing so the authorities were trying hard to guide the private education sector, to explore different models for internal governance and training, so as to improve the teaching quality of private schools.

Officials said the local government was consistently improving the development environment for private schools, formulating policies to support the development of private education, as well as supporting and rewarding high-quality private education.
