Lushun Xiaonan village selected as key rural tourism village

Xiaonan village in Lushunkou, Dalian, in northeastern Liaoning province, was included in the list of key rural tourist villages in China, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in a statement released on July 12.

There are 320 villages in the first batch of villages that were place on the list of key rural tourist villages in China. Nine villages in Liaoning Province are included, while Xiaonan village in Lushunkou is the only village in Dalian selected.

Xiaonan village is located in the core area of a national scenic attraction in Lushunkou, covering an area of 6.79 square kilometers.

In recent years, the village has vigorously developed a distinctive tourist industry with it collective economy as the leading driver. It has convenient transportation and 95 percent green coverage. It is also called a forest scenic attraction by tourists and locals.

According to local media reports, Xiaonan village has abundant cultural resources. These include its involvement in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 and Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905). As a result, there many war relics remain.

Enthusiasts say it has very high historical value in the study of modern Chinese history and has become a patriotism education base.

For its industrial development, Xiaonan village is promoting the integration of  first level, second and third level industries. Its agricultural development is based on fruit cultivation and assisted by the processing of agricultural by-products.

Through the development of leisure agriculture and the rural tourism industry, Xiaonan village has effectively consolidated its collective economy and promoted the employment and prosperity of farmers.
