Unlike other districts in Dalian, Liaoning province, Lushunkouin the south of Liaodong Peninsula, wasn't approved as a State-level economic and technological development zone until the end of 2009. Just nine years later, it is full of unprecedented vigor and vitality.
The region's GDP increased by 9.1 percent annually throughout the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), among which the economic aggregate in 2015 was 1.6 times that at the end of the 11th Five-Year Plan (2005-2010), and the proportion of primary, secondary and tertiary industries was 7:56:37.
The total investment in fixed assets in the district reached 177.88 billion yuan ($25.53 billion) in the five years. Retail sales of consumer goods totaled 30.58 billion yuan, with an average annual growth of 13.7 percent. Meanwhile, the region's amount of self-operating foreign trade totaled $6.11 billion over five years, with an average annual growth rate of 7.9 percent. The actual utilization of foreign capital amounted to $1.49 billion at the same time.
In the past nine years, the industrial structure of the region has been further optimized, and the industrial economy has become an important source of regional economic growth. The overall strength of the service industry has increased significantly, with the added value reaching 10.6 billion yuan in 2017, up by 71 percent compared with 2010.
According to authoritative data, during the 12th five-year plan period, a total of 13.5 billion yuan was invested in infrastructure construction in key industrial parks of Lushunkou, with 929 enterprises registered, achieving a total output value of 34.2 billion yuan. Foreign exchanges and cooperation have also been further expanded with seven countries including Japan, South Korea, and Russia.
