Laotie Mountain launches 'Loving Birds Week'

The 37th "Loving Birds Week" commenced in Laotie Mountain region of Dalian city, Northeast China’s Liaoning province, on April 24.

The event is organized by the administration of Liaoning Snake Island Laotie Mountain National Nature Reserve, with a theme of protecting birds and safeguarding lucid waters and lush mountains.

It will run from April 24 to 30, during which, the administration will crackdown on activities that harm birds, including bird hunting and stealing of birds’ eggs.

A series of publicity activities will also be held, such as lectures on bird protection and visiting the local natural museum, with the aim of raising people’s awareness of protecting birds.

A nationwide recruitment of volunteers also started alongside. The first group of volunteers will enter the Snake Island and conduct research on agkistrodon under the guidance of scientific researchers.
