Wuxi offers colorful events for summer vacation

Tourist attractions, cultural venues, and TV channels in Wuxi are gearing up for students' summer vacations.

Nianhua Bay scenic area announced special discounts for students from July 20 to Sept 30. Students who attended the gaokao (national college entrance exam) or the zhongkao (senior high school entrance exam) this year can enter free of charge by presenting their exam admission tickets.

Free access is also offered to local students under 13 years old. Junior and high school students can pay 30 yuan ($4.3) each to visit Nianhua Bay.

Night tours are being promoted in Nianhua Bay during the summer vacation period. Light shows and free markets are expected to attract large numbers of tourists.

Jiulong Bay scenic area will also organize a fantasy light show from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm every night from July 18 to Sept 1.

Lihu Lake is an ideal place for those who want to experience water sports like kayaking, sailing, and dragon boats. The sports base at Shuanghong Park offers membership cards for kayaking, available for 1,580 yuan per person, and the membership card for sailing is available for 2,980 yuan per person. The membership cards can be used until Aug 31.

Six bookstores in Wuxi will offer activities marking the 10th Jiangsu Book Fair from July 23-27, including Wuxi Xinhua Bookstore, Jiangyin Xinhua Bookstore, Yixing Xinhua Bookstore, Wuxi Zhong Shu Ge Bookstore, Wuxi Belencre Bookstore Easyhome Mall Branch, and Wuxi Bai Cao Yuan Bookstore.

More than 10 reading events and speeches will be organized both online and offline at each bookstore. Exhibitions on classic works and discounts on books will also be offered.

Locals can also relax at home while watching a number of TV series, movies, and documentaries on Wuxi's TV channels, including General History of China, National Treasure, and City of Life and Death.
