On Oct 25, a GUi-Hong Kong innovation forum focusing on synergy for global innovation was held at the Hong Kong Science Park. The event brought together distinguished figures from government, academia, industry, and finance to discuss key issues in technological innovation and global collaboration.
Anhui, a rising powerhouse in China's science and technology landscape, is home to Grand Union of Innovation (GUi) — a pioneering innovation hub initiated by the provincial government that draws on the global alumni networks of leading universities such as the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC).
GUi links leading scientific resources, industrial capabilities, and global investment to turn innovative ideas into market-ready solutions, creating robust industrial clusters in quantum information, new energy, and artificial intelligence.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong, known for its international outlook, open economy, and advanced financial system, is swiftly transforming into a global innovation hub. This innovation forum connected these two dynamic ecosystems, fostering new opportunities for collaboration in science, entrepreneurship, and talent exchange.
During the keynote session, He Li, vice president of GUiTEK Service Platform, shared insights on GUi's innovation model and ecosystem development.
"GUi aims to serve as a connector between Anhui and Hong Kong," He said. "By sharing Anhui's innovation experience and Hong Kong's global platform, we can help Chinese tech enterprises go global with greater confidence and impact."
Industry leaders from companies like Lenovo and iFlytek, along with political representatives and academic experts from Hong Kong, participated in panel discussions. These discussions covered topics such as open-source collaboration, green energy, cross-border financing, and the globalization of Chinese tech firms.
Speakers, such as Lin Jing, a visiting professor at City University of Hong Kong, emphasized that fostering innovation-driven talent, deepening science-industry integration, and strengthening international networks are key to advancing Hong Kong's innovation economy.
As the guiding organization of the forum, the Anhui Provincial Association for Science and Industry Integration Innovation has united 143 leading enterprises since its founding in June.
"It will remain committed to openness and cooperation, working hand in hand with government bodies, enterprises, universities, and research institutions to explore new models and pathways for technology–industry integration," according to an association representative.
