Overview

Grand Union of Innovation (GUi) is a substantial move to implement the important directives and instructions from the Party regarding Anhui's development, focusing on building the "Three Places and One Area," meaning to become a source for science and technology innovation, a center for emerging industries, a highland for reform and opening up, and a comprehensive green-transition area for socio-economic development. On June 13, 2022, the official construction of the GUi began. GUi concentrates on transforming innovation outcomes, incubating innovative enterprises, catalyzing emerging industries, and optimizing innovation ecosystems. Leveraging the global alumni network of universities and research institutes such as the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), GUi gathers global innovation forces, becoming a "test field" for reforming the science and technology system and a "high-yield field" for developing high-tech industries. The goal is to create a vibrant, future-leading, and globally renowned innovation valley.

With the joint efforts of the province, municipal, and university, the construction of GUi has gained strong momentum, establishing an initial ecosystem that integrates technological and industrial innovation. GUi has become a shining symbol of Anhui's innovation-driven development. Until September 2024, a total of 1,725 new tech companies have joined the GUi zone, with over 6,000 tech companies and sci-tech innovative service institutions. The area has attracted over 60,000 innovative and entrepreneurial talents, established nine overseas and domestic innovation centers, and amassed 216 various funds with a total scale exceeding 240 billion yuan ($33.69 billion). Numerous innovation units have emerged, striving to make each building a united innovation community and a cradle for emerging industries.

On Aug 25, 2022, GUiTEK service platform was established as a mixed-ownership enterprise with a diversified equity structure. The company adheres to the principles of "marketization, professionalization, platformization, and internationalization," positioning itself as the strategic executor of GUi, a global aggregator of innovation resources, explorer of system and mechanism reforms, and promoter of emerging industry development. GUiTEK focuses on core functions such as resource linkage, talent attraction, project attraction, capital empowerment, sci-tech innovative services, and brand promotion, aiming to become a globally competitive integrated service provider for the sci-tech industry ecosystem with international vision and global service capabilities.
