GUi serves as paradise for talent, hub for entrepreneurs

In an effort to bridge the gap between scientific research and the economy, Anhui province, leveraging the capability of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), established the Grand Union of Innovation (GUi) two years ago in 2022.
Over the past two years, this innovation hub has thrived, attracting global talent and fostering an environment conducive to technological advancements and entrepreneurial ventures.
Currently, in 2024, GUi hosts over 1,391 innovative enterprises and more than 200 funds, with a total scale exceeding 230 billion yuan ($32.25 billion).
By dint of talent relations and growing trends, GUi has become a magnet for researchers and entrepreneurs worldwide, including Xu Weiwei, a former resident of Silicon Valley who co-founded Hefei Chengling Microelectronics Company in GUi.
His company, which focuses on high-performance power management chips, has secured multiple patents and significant funding.

Anhui province is experiencing strong development momentum thanks to its rising economic and technological role. Thus the establishment of GUi aims to transform innovative results, incubate enterprises, and catalyze new industries. The collaboration between USTC and its global alumni network plays a crucial role in this endeavor.
By the end of 2023, Anhui boasted nearly 20,000 national high-tech enterprises and over 27,000 tech-based SMEs, among which are 597 enterprises specialized in certain fields of technology. The integrated platform of GUi also promotes direct connections between technology, industry, and capital.
GUi provides comprehensive support services for enterprises, facilitating their growth and success. The hub has also established overseas innovation centers, enhancing global collaboration.
