Zuo Yan'an, former chairman of Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Co Ltd, recently delivered a keynote speech on the theme of "Automotive Industry Change and Corporate Innovation" during the 10th session of the Frontier Dialogue.

The event is a celebrated exchange platform for ideas launched by the Grand Union of Innovation – located in Hefei, in East China's Anhui province.

In his speech, Zuo said that the NEV industry had entered a fully open market environment and knockout competition had begun.

"New energy vehicles have shifted from being policy-driven to market-driven," Zuo said.

"With the blessings of sci-tech power, technology and product levels continue to improve and the industry structure is gradually becoming clear," he added.

The development pattern of lithium batteries promoting pure electricity was about to emerge, Zuo continued.

"In China, a development trend has been formed in which the lithium-ion pure electric drive is mainly used, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are supplemented and fuel cell vehicles are used," he said.

Yet Zuo warned that the auto industry may also encounter a cruel winner-takes-all situation.

He said it was up to strongly managed companies to boost the zeal of employees to win the game.
