A technical seminar on nanostructured solid-state hydrogen storage technology projects was held on Nov 14 at the Grand Union of Innovation event in the Shushan district of Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province.

The seminar aimed to extend academic exchanges and cooperation in the cutting-edge field of endeavor in the city.

The Grand Union of Innovation is an intellectual hub for global innovation talent and it is a platform for science and technology, while also being an institutional innovation.

It draws on the alumni network of the University of Science and Technology of China in Anhui and other world-class universities. It also focuses on the commercialization of innovative achievements, the incubation of innovative enterprises and the optimization of the innovation ecosystem.

Nanostructured materials are widely said to have huge potential in the field of solid-state hydrogen storage, a clean and efficient energy source for the future. How to prepare high-performance nanostructured hydrogen storage materials is a hot topic in current research.

Henning Zoz, an academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and the president of the German Zoz Group, shared the latest in the commercialization of nanostructured solid-state hydrogen storage materials and their applications in his keynote session.

In a lively session, experts and entrepreneurs discussed such topics as the nanostructure preparations process, product commercial application details and hydrogen energy storage.

Hefei has seen rapid growth in the new materials and hydrogen energy-related industries.

Over the past five years, the output value of the city's new materials has grown at an average annual rate of more than 14 percent. In addition, it has attracted more than 200 new materials companies and 47 research and development centers of various types to settle there.
