Academician visits Hefei for Grand Union of Innovation event

Hefei city in East China's Anhui province welcomed a distinguished guest on July 19 – Wu Zhiqiang, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who holds the position of professor at Tongji University and serves as the chief planner of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Park.

During his visit, Wu shared insights at the Grand Union of Innovation Frontier Dialogue, an event rolled out by the Grand Union of Innovation industrial park – located in the Hefei National High-tech Industry Development zone.

"Unlike other cities, Hefei is a rare example of a city with an established foundation in science and technology that propels its industries forwards," Wu said.

The Grand Union of Innovation industrial park is widely regarded as a testing ground for reforming the science and technology system in Anhui province.

It focuses on transforming innovative achievements, incubating groundbreaking businesses and optimizing the overall innovation ecosystem.

Its primary goal is to establish a wellspring of technological innovation and be a hub for emerging industries. This, in turn, is expected to better support Hefei's high-quality development through the power of innovation.

Since its inception in 2022, the Grand Union of Innovation Frontier Dialogue has invited academicians, top experts and successful entrepreneurs as speakers, garnering enthusiastic participation from various sectors of society.

With a focus on consolidating innovative resources and igniting the spark of innovation, the event is said to assemble intellectual powerhouses to provide essential support for government initiatives and the business community – with the ultimate goal of propelling Hefei towards high-quality development.
