The Palace Museum in Beijing pledged on Sunday to enhance visitor accessibility and showcase cultural items by artists with disabilities.
The reforms will be advanced in partnership with the China Disabled Persons' Federation, the museum said at an agreement signing ceremony, which was held in the lead-up to National Disability Day on May 21 this year.
Speaking at the ceremony, Wang Xudong, a senior Party official with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and director of the museum, underscored the museum's role in improving services for people with disabilities and promoting their engagement with China's cultural advancements.
"The museum has actively supported individuals with disabilities, including providing sign language services for tourists," he said, adding it will work with its partners to create barrier-free environments, enrich experiences for visitors with disabilities, and organize cultural activities to encourage their participation in China's traditional culture.
