Zhou Changkui, secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and vice-chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), visited Changping Laboratory, one of China's new type of research & development institutions, and the School of Medicine at Tsinghua University to conduct research on scientific and technological innovation for persons with disabilities.
Zhou listened to presentations from experts on key technologies such as individualized functional brain area segmentation, machine learning-assisted macromolecular drug design, and minimally invasive brain-machine interface technology. He also learned about the application of related scientific and technological innovations in the rehabilitation of patients with conditions such as hemiplegia, autism, and paraplegia and gained detailed insights into the actual experiences and functional changes of disabled persons receiving relevant technological services, encouraging disabled persons receiving services to build their confidence and strength in training for early rehabilitation.
During the research trip, Zhou held in-depth exchanges with experts from Changping Laboratory and Tsinghua University, focusing on using scientific and technological achievements to assist persons with disabilities. He listened to opinions and suggestions from experts and stressed that scientific and technological innovation is a powerful means by which the fate of people with disabilities can be changed and their quality of life improved. Noting that high-quality development in the cause for those with disabilities relies on the support of scientific and technological innovation, he expressed the hope that more research institutions would address the technological challenges in the field of disability services and incorporate them into research and development plans, using high-level scientific and technological achievements to benefit the vast number of disabled persons.
He added that the CDPF will leverage its own advantages to collaborate with relevant scientific research institutions, universities, and enterprises to promote independent scientific and technological innovation in the fields of disability prevention and services for the disabled, to provide strong technological support for creating a happier and better life for disabled persons.
Hu Xiangyang, member of the Leading Party Members Group and vice-chairperson of the Board of Executive Directors of the CDPF, Li Dongsheng, member of the Board of Executive Directors and director of the department of finance of the CDPF, and officials from the rehabilitation department were also on the research trip.
