Zhou Changkui, vice-chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), led a team to inspect work related to persons with disabilities and visited severely disabled people in need in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region from Jan 21 to 23.
The team visited care institutions for persons with disabilities, assistive device centers, rehabilitation centers for disabled children, and enterprises providing employment for persons with disabilities in the cities of Hohhot and Ulanqab. They also visited grassroots workers at the community-based disabled persons' association in Saihan district, Hohhot and severely disabled people in need in Chahaeryouyiqian banner.
Zhou learned in detail about their living conditions, rehabilitation, education, employment, basic security, and home accessibility renovations. He said that local disabled persons' federations should work actively to help them solve urgent difficulties and assist in implementing various social security policies.
Zhou stressed that disabled persons' federations at all levels should strive to improve the social security system and care service system for persons with disabilities, and promote the all-round development of the cause of people with disabilities. Special efforts should be made to aid persons with severe disabilities in need, ensuring their basic living standards along with relevant departments, Zhou added. He also highlighted the need for strict and practical measures to ensure the safety management of service institutions for persons with disabilities.
In addition, Zhou noted that disabled persons' federations at all levels in Inner Mongolia autonomous region should implement the opinions of the China Disabled Persons' Federation on supporting the comprehensive and high-quality development of the cause of persons with disabilities in the region.
Zhou also exchanged views with Sun Shaocheng, Party secretary of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region. Officials from the Inner Mongolia autonomous region disabled persons' federation, and the general office and the rights protection department of the CDPF participated in the inspection.
