A delegation from the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) led by Hu Xiangyang, member of the Leading Party Members Group and vice-chairperson of the Board of Executive Directors of the CDPF, conducted a survey on the rehabilitation work of disabled people in Sichuan province and visited severely disabled people with difficulties, from Jan 17 to 19, 2024.
The delegation visited rehabilitation institutions, township health clinics, and "Homes for the Disabled" in communities in the cities of Guangyuan, Deyang, and Chengdu. They learned about rehabilitation assistance for disabled children, the adaptation of assistive devices for disabled people, contracted family doctor service for disabled people, community-based rehabilitation for disabled people, and the construction of community service facilities for disabled people.
They also visited the families of severely disabled people in difficulty, gained detailed insight into the lives and rehabilitation conditions of disabled people, and assessed basic medical care and the implementation of policies supporting disabled people in Xiasi town, Hanyang town, and Jianmenguan town of Jiange county, Guangyuan city, as well as Nanquan town in Deyang city.
During the survey, Hu said that disabled persons' federations at all levels should implement the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the plan made at the 8th China Disabled Persons' Federation National Congress, making increasing efforts to improve services, ensure basic livelihood of people with disability and elevate basic public services for the group. In addition, Hu emphasized that it is necessary to enhance the rehabilitation guarantee system and service system for the disabled, set up a commercial rehabilitation service network, build affiliated rehabilitation institutions, improve professional service capabilities and academic development, in order to promote the high-quality development of rehabilitation work for disabled people.
Officials from the Sichuan provincial disabled persons' federation and relevant officials from the CDPF's finance department were present during the survey.
