The China Disabled Persons' Federation held its eighth national congress at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Sept 18, 2023. Chinese Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.
The speech fully affirmed the historic achievements made in China's work for people with disability over the past decade. It outlined plans for the comprehensive development of the disability cause in the new era, specifying the themes, guiding principles, values, historical mission, goals and tasks of the cause of people with disabilities.
Prior to the national congress, the disabled persons' federations of , provincial, municipal, county and township levels, completed the tasks of term transition as scheduled.
