Throughout 2023, the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) made timely arrangements to support the relief work for people of disability in areas affected by floods and earthquakes.
Following the occurrence of disasters, the CDPF and local disabled persons' federations in affected areas promptly assessed the situation of disabled people, allocated special funds, mobilized relevant materials, and supported post-disaster reconstruction and assistance for people of disability.
On Dec 3, 2023, the CDPF held a donation event in Zhuozhou, Hebei province, to support post-disaster recovery and reconstruction in the province, donating relief funds and materials worth 10 million yuan to disabled people affected by the disaster.
After a 6.2-magnitude earthquake in Jishishan county, Linxia Hui autonomous prefecture in Gansu province, the CDPF and provincial disabled persons' federations immediately coordinated with the local disabled persons' federations and provided assistance to Gansu and Qinghai provinces in the form of funds, cotton-padded coats, quilts, wheelchairs, and other relief materials totaling over 9.1 million yuan.
A rehabilitation medical team was also sent to the disaster-stricken area to support earthquake relief efforts and assistance for disabled people affected by the disaster.
