Hu Xiangyang, a member of the Leading Party Members Group and vice chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF), met with Conny Helder, minister for Long-Term Care and Sport of the Netherlands, in Beijing, on Oct 23. The two sides exchanged views on the long-term care and rehabilitation of people with disabilities, as well as sports for this group.
Hu welcomed Helder and her delegation on their visit to the CDPF and introduced China's recent achievements in the cause of the disabled and the outcome of the 8th National Congress of the CDPF. He said that the CDPF is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Netherlands in areas of rehabilitation, care, and sports for the disabled. He proposed mutual learning and the exchange of experience to promote the equality, integration, and participation of people with disabilities.
Helder spoke highly of the achievements made in China's cause of the disabled and expressed a willingness to enhance cooperation with the CDPF, hoping to work together to help people with disabilities participate more in social life and achieve integrated development.
Officials from the CDPF's International Department, Rehabilitation Department, and Education and Employment Department also attended the meeting.
